Old Scientist?

Question
What sort of articles are you looking for?

Answer
The original idea of Old Scientist was a to have articles based on scientific theories of yesteryear, phrased as though they are new discoveries. However, rather than restricting writers to that sort of style, Old Scientist will publish any well-thought-out articles or letters related to Old Science or Old Scientists. Here are some suggested areas to write about:

  • Articles trumpeting amazing scientific 'breakthroughs' of the past, which are so wrong as to be amusing.
  • Articles on the difficulties a scientist might face on getting older.
  • Old science fiction - the kind in which [for example] people routinely interact with intelligent robots, but still write documents on typewriters. Write your own or write reviews of the many such books out there, with an old scientist's view of how realistic the stories are.
  • Letters to the editor heatedly debating scientific questions which have long been answered.
  • Serious articles on the history of science.
  • Scientific questions for this page, which other readers can answer in true Old Scientist style.
Of course, these aren't the only possibilities... be creative. As long as your piece has to do with some interpretation of old science, it will probably fit the bill.

Question
Do they [the old scientists] have to be dead?

Answer
No... only the science has to be 'dead', that is, so thoroughly disproven that it's amusing.
